We’ve won again! Bionerds has won Best Science and Tech Camp by Parenting OC Magazine for the past 9 years. We love what we do, and our enthusiasm is contagious! It is so great to share our love of science and spark the scientific interests of the next generation of scientists. Our engagingly fun filled hands-on activities spark that love of nature, and quest for deeper understanding that underlie the foundation of great scientists throughout history and the world.
This year we have been asking our students, “What is the best part of Bionerds?” Here is a collection of the responses. Lilly explains her love of Bionerds this way; “I love to tell my parents facts about the body and brag to my siblings that I am smarter.” David says, “I love the videos, especially the ones with animals. “I love learning about how we are made” revealed Devon after our human body class. “It’s all around good,” replied Christian as he made a praying mantis model.
Dissection is a favored part of our program. Liliana likes to “dissect everything.” “I like the dissection especially the eye and the shiny bits inside that reflect the light and makes them glow at night,” says Sadie. “I loved learning about the human heart, “said Alexander.
There is so much to learn and Bionerds is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to share our knowledge and love of nature with our community. Keep learning, keeping growing, and keeping asking the questions that will uncover the secrets of the biological world.
We hope you have enjoyed hearing from our students, and we hope to see you in our award-winning classes and camps soon.
Elizabeth Mesic is an Educator Associate who graduated from University of Minnesota with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences and Public Health. She has years of experience working with kids. She went on to work with a laboratory technology company where she worked with laboratories all over the United States on their purification processes. After observing the after-school programs at her child’s school, she jumped at the chance to share science with kids in a fun, hands on way. She enjoys the excitement kids bring to science and loves to see that interest grow. Bionerds is fortunate to have her on the team.
